Congenital heart disease (CHD), affects nearly 1.3 million newborns annually, often requiring early surgical intervention. The burden is disproportionately high in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs), where 90% of cases occur, and access to cardiac care is limited. Short-term surgical mission trips help address this gap by offering care and training, but their limited duration restricts sustainability for local institutions. This project aims to create low-cost, reusable 3D heart models that provide continuous surgical practice and overcome the high cost of existing models, expanding access to CHD training where it is needed most.
